2016 Pork Queen Sarah Thomas, 2017 Pork Queen Erica Jacobs, 2016 Hardin County Fair Queen Holly Wilson
The highlight of any commodity banquet is the crowning of the commodity's queen. Erica Jacobs was crowned this year's pork queen. Jacobs describes what inspired her to run for queen
"I've shown pigs since I was in third grade and before that I did Pee Wee showmanship. I love the fair, and I love pork and I just want to promote it." Said Jacobs.
Jacobs talks about her goals for herself as queen.
"I plan to go to a lot of the county fairs and go to their pork shows and work with the Pork Producers and promote the pork industry." Jacobs said.
Jacobs had to fill out an application, participate in an interview, and give a speech. Her speech focused on the vast uses for pork, and expansion opportunities in the pork industry.
2016 Queen Sarah Thomas shared her experiences of the last year, and extended her thanks to the county pork producers for allowing her the opportunity to have the experience.
