BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio – Ohio Hi-Point Career Center has been awarded a substantial grant of $595,525 through the Ohio Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program after applying for the highly competitive grant in December 2023. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced the recipients of the grant during a press conference on Monday, March 4.

This grant marks a significant investment in the future of information technology (IT) education within Ohio Hi-Point’s district.

“This will benefit several of our IT pathways, including our Ohio Hi-Point IT programs at Upper Scioto Valley (USV) and Indian Lake as well as our Cyber Security program on OHP’s campus in Bellefontaine,” said Brad Richardson, Ohio Hi-Point Assistant Superintendent.

The grant monies will be used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, curriculum and software materials, and professional development for teachers.

“We are committed to providing an excellent career-ready education for our students, and this grant, along with the continued collaboration with our partner districts and industry leaders, will help us empower the next generation of IT professionals,” finished Richardson.

During the press conference, Governor DeWine said, “Investing in our schools is an investment into our students’ futures. Allowing more schools to purchase equipment so they can train more students will set them and our state up for success.”
