A Kenton High School student will be attending National Boys State in Virginia next month.

Chase Fleece, who works weekends at WKTN, was one of two boys selected at the Ohio Boys State held at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio this month. He said he was very humbled to be recommended for the national program.

Fleece ran for Governor at the state level and came in 4th out of 13 candidates and 60 votes shy of winning the nomination for the Federalist Party. He will be one of only 98 boys in the nation to attend National Boy’s State.

At the national level, Fleece intends to run for president.

The national program runs July 20 through 28 at Marymount University in Virginia.

His trip to the state program was paid for by the American Legion Post 198 in Kenton, which he thanked for their support. All expenses for his trip to Virginia will be paid for by the national level of the American Legion.

While at the National Boys State program, Fleece will meet with Ohio Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman. There is also a possibility he will meet with President Trump.
