The Kenton Wildcats went 13 and 1 in 2013, winning the Western Buckeye League title and the Region 12 championship on their way to the state semifinals.
The 2014 Kenton High School squad will be tested early as the Cats open the season with home dates against Division 5 state champion Coldwater and Western Buckeye League runner-up Wapakoneta. Those 2 programs were a combined 22 and 4 last season.
Kenton’s first road test comes in week 3 when the Cats visit St. Marys. After a home date with Van Wert, the Wildcats hit the road on consecutive weeks to meet Shawnee and Ottawa-Glandorf, then host Elida before traveling to Bath. Celina comes to Robinson Field in week 9, with the regular season coming to end the following week when the Cats make the long trip to Defiance.
All in all, the Wildcats will face 3 playoff teams from 2013 and 6 teams that finished .500 or better.
Kenton’s 2014 football schedule, as well as those from the other Hardin County schools and other area teams, are posted online at wktn.com or Kenton today.com. As always, WKTN will carry every Wildcat football game live, beginning with the matchup with Coldwater at Robinson Field on August 29th.
