The 2014 Tree Town Festival in Forest takes place this weekend.
The festival runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Gormley Park in Forest. and Marketing Director Audrey Hankins said things kick off Friday night with the parade at 6:30, but if you're hungry, you can get started a bit earlier, "The pavilion and the food stands do open at 5:00pm at Gormley Park. We have the Greasy Spoon again, which has hamburgers, brats, fried bologna, fish and fries, and the Main Pavilion that features homemade noodles and homemade sandwiches, pies and cakes. Everything is homemade, and it's all local people that operate the food pavilion."
The wrist band promotion for the rides from 5-11 is $15, "This year, they're having Air Extreme Euro-Bungee and Crash Combat Laser Tag. I don't know what that is, but it will probably be fun."
Numerous games and other activities happen Friday night as well, including the Tree Town Idol Karaoke Contest at 9, "They can win up to $300 first prize, $150 second and $50 for third."
Hankins said numerous sporting events happen Saturday morning, "We have three on three basketball, four on four volleyball, that's co-ed, cornhole tournament, fishing derby, we also have a kickball tournament this year."
The games Saturday night also include Let's Make A Deal at 7:30, "They're giving away over $6000 in cash and prizes at Let's Make A Deal."
The always fabulous fireworks display caps Saturday night starting at 10:30, and then Sunday morning, it's the 9th Annual Community Church in the Park, "That's sponsored by the Community Church Park Committee, and this year the speaker is Brock Mealer. He's a young man who was injured in an accident and told he would never walk again, but God had other plans. His motivational talk is called 'Strive for the Impossible' and that will be in the park at 10:30 Sunday morning."
