The Tiffin Columbian Tornadoes used a late surge in the second quarter to pull away from the Kenton Wildcats on their way to a 67-48 victory in boys basketball action Friday.
Tiffin Columbian used a 12-2 run to break a tie late in the first half. The Tornadoes, who were led by Stone Simmons' 18 points and 7 rebounds, kept the Cats at arm's length throughout the second half en route to improving to 1-2.
The Wildcats (1-1) got 12 points from Brady Donnelly while Luke Nichols scored 11. Thomas Phillips added 8 points and 7 rebounds while Austin Buroker had 7 points and 7 rebounds.
Donnelly was named the Ace Hardware Player of the Game.
The Wildcats are back in action on Friday when they begin Western Buckeye League play with a trip to Defiance to meet the defending Division II state champions. WKTN will carry the game live, with the pregame show starting around 7:30 p.m.
