The Kenton Lady Wildcats defeated Defiance 52-44 in Western Buckeye League girls basketball action Thursday.
The Wildcats (4-3 overall, 1-1 WBL) scored the game's first seven points, but the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-1) fought back. The game was knotted at 38 after three quarters, but two three-pointers from Sara Hoyt and another from Kori Barrett to open the fourth quarter staked Kenton to a lead it would not relinquish.
Ashley Morris scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Lady Wildcats while Sara Hoyt scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Layne Taylor finished with eight points and 13 caroms for the winners.
Morgan Porter scored 16 points - all in the second half - to pace Defiance.
