The defending state champion Defiance Bulldogs were too much for the Kenton Wildcats on Friday as they raced to a 74-40 victory in the Western Buckeye League opener for both schools.
Defiance (3-1 overall, 1-0 WBL) forced Kenton into turnovers on its first six possessions en route to building an 11-0 lead and was never threatened.
Shay Smiddy and Kameron Singleton had 16 points each to lead Defiance while Braden Frederick scored 10.
Kenton (1-2, 0-1) was led by Thomas Phillips' 18 points.
Austin Buroker was named the Ace Hardware Player of the Game.
Kenton returns to action on Saturday when it visits Riverdale in a game that will be carried live on WKTN.
