A 17 year old Ridgemont student passed away from injuries suffered in a one vehicle crash that occurred around 9:50 Thursday night on State Route 292.
According to a release from Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart, Keegan McKee lost control of her car while driving south on 292 near Township Road 206. The car went off the west side of the road where it struck numerous tree stumps. That caused it to roll multiple times, and McKee was ejected from the car. She was flown to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima and died this morning.
The crash remains under investigation.
Superintendent Emmy Beeson's office issued the following release concerning the loss of one of their own:
"Ridgemont Local Schools was delayed today while staff prepared for the arrival of students after the death of a high school student who died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident last night. Critical Incident and Stress Management (CISM) Team of Western Ohio is in the district to provide support for staff and students as need."
