Upper Sandusky residents will see an increase in monthly sewer rates.

The Daily Chief-Union reported that the Upper Sandusky City Council voted this week to increase rates by one dollar effective May 1.

The paper added that the council voted unanimously to have the rates increase one dollar each year through 2019, and the minimum bill also increase by two dollars a month each year.

The increase, according to the paper, is necessary to pay for a new wastewater treatment plant.
