A former Bellefontaine man pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in Logan County Common Pleas Court this week.
WPKO in Bellefontaine reported that 53 year old Michael Robinson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection to the death of his son. Robinson was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2008 on charges of felonious assault, child endangering and domestic violence after he severely beat his then 11 month on son Dana, who died from those injuries in 2015. It is believed that the transcript of the hearing when Robinson pleaded guilty could have allowed him to be charged with murder if his son died, however, it has been lost. The Logan County Prosecutor said he had no other choice but to allow Robinson to plead to the lesser charge.
Robinson was scheduled to be released in 2028, but 11 years could be added to that when he is sentenced on May 30.
