Rhodes State College is pleased to announce Brandy Sealscott, Rhodes State College Medical Assisting student, is the recipient of a $1,000 Mary Buckley Scholarship. This was one of four scholarships given out each year by the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants. The scholarship was awarded at the President’s Luncheon during their annual meeting in Lima. The top six applications were very closely matched and it was a tough decision for the committee to narrow this down to the four winners.
The Mary Buckley Scholarship Fund was established in 1959 in memory of the second president, Mary Buckley of Toledo, who tragically died in a fire in her home 2 weeks before the end of her term as president. The first scholarship was awarded in 1972 making 2017 scholarships the 45th year of awards. Selection is based upon desire to enter the allied health profession, financial need, GPA of 2.5 or higher and 2 letters of recommendation, one being from their program director.
