A small airplane crashed Wednesday evening near Findlay after high winds affected its path. According to the Lima News, Dale Weaver, 79, of Findlay, flew a CGS Hawk single prop ultra light aircraft in Marion Township near Findlay., Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Deputy T.J. Brooks said in a press release. He was flying the plane low above the field east of township Road 242, near Forest Lake Drive in Marion Township.
High winds and the slow speed of the aircraft caused the engine to stall, crashing the plane into the field. The aircraft landed on both tires and sustained minor damage.
Weaver was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital with unknown injuries by Hanco EMS. The investigation continues through the sheriff’s office and the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
