The Kenton Hardin Health Department is conducting a 10 million steps to prevent falls walk this year.
The event is in recognition of National Falls Prevention Awareness Day, which is Friday, the first day of Fall.
Falls among adults over the age of 65 have reached epidemic proportions, and “10 million steps to prevent falls” is a statewide effort to raise awareness of falls prevention for older adults.
The Kenton Hardin Health Department will be on the courthouse square from noon until 1 Friday walking the square to get steps towards the 10 million.
The public is welcome to join in the efforts to raise falls awareness.
