The Helen Mabrey Shoe Fund is asking for donations to help supply shoes to students in need.

The organization strives to provide shoes to Hardin County students from kindergarten to 12th grade 365 days a year.

A total of 310 pairs of shoes were distributed last year, and Director Sandy Moore said there has been an increase of applications this year. She noted that 194 applications have been served, and 428 pairs of shoes have been purchased.

To help the local charity, which honors the memory of former Kenton teacher Helen Mabrey, donations can be sent to the Helen Mabrey Shoe Fund, Post Office Box 505 in Kenton.
