The following are highlights from the Ridgemont Schools Board of Education held Thursday evening.

-Top 10 FFA Premier Chapter in the Nation in two divisions – Growing Leaders Division and Building Communities Division.
- National Proficiency Finalist, who are top 4 in the USA.
- Nole Gerfen in Diversified Agriculture
- Nathan Stacklin in Diversified Horticulture
- Keaton Fout in Forage Production

Congratulations to Nole Gerfen-National FFA Proficiency Award in Diversified Agriculture
It is a rarity for a students to win one, but to win two in a row is unheard of and now Nole has won
three in a row! Congratulations Nole!
Congratulations to Cami Lowery, a member of the Ridgemont FFA Chapter. Cami’s SAE project and proficiency for FFA needs to be applauded. Cami showed her Netherland Dwarf Rabbits at the American Rabbit Breeders Association Convention in Indianapolis in October. At the convention, Cami placed third in the Breed Identification contest. She was the District 8 Achievement Winner and National Runner-Up for submitting a 500 word application on her work with rabbits in the county, state and national levels. In the educational contest, she entered a drawing of one of her rabbit and was named the National Winner in the Art Division, with this drawing she is the Featured Artist and was photographed and featured in the Rabbit Tutor website where her drawing can be purchased. Cami has won many County, State and National awards and is the 2017 American Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club Queen. Congratulations Cami!
Congratulations to Mrs. Stephanie Jolliff, Agriculture Educator and FFA Advisor. Mrs. Jolliff received the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award from the National Association of Agricultural Educators. This program recognizes NAAE members who are at the pinnacle of their profession—those who are conducting the highest quality agricultural education programs. The award recognizes leadership in civic, community, agriculture/agribusiness and professional activities.
Outstanding agricultural educators are innovators and catalysts for student success in agricultural education.
Mrs. Jolliff also received the 2017 Association for Career and Technical Education Region I Carl Perkins Community Service Award. This award recognizes individuals who have used CTE to make a significant impact on their community and demonstrated leadership in programs and activities that promote student involvement in community service. Mrs. Jolliff was recognized at the ACTE Awards Banquet as one the 5 finalists for the 2018 National Title and on December 6 in Nashville, and then was awarded the NATIONAL CARL PERKINS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD.
Mrs. Jolliff is very deserving of this award as this community has seen her leadership develop their students into highly productive citizens. Congratulations Mrs. Jolliff!
Thank you to Mr. Dave Copp, outgoing Board of Education Member. We would like to thank Mr. Copp for his 12 years of dedicated service to the Ridgemont Local School District. Mr. Copp has witnessed many changes at Ridgemont and always given his time to make the school a better educational environment for all students.
The Board approved a salary adjustment and a substitute teacher for the rest of the 2017-2018 school year.
An agreement was approved for the Midwest Regional ESC to represent the business of the Ridgemont Local School District, Ms. Sally Henrick will represent Ridgemont. Memberships and legal fund assistance to the Ohio School Board’s Association were approved as well as updates for access controls.
The Board Re-organizational Meeting was approved for January 11, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the Conference Room. The January Regular Board meeting will follow and then a Board Work Session. A President Pro Temp was approved for the Re-organizational meeting.

The 2018 January Board Reorganizational and Regular Board Meetings have been scheduled for January 11th at 5:00 pm in the Conference Room and a Board Work Session will follow.
