A Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Kenton is scheduled for Monday January 15.

According to a release, the day will begin at 10:30 Monday morning at St. John's Church, 211 East Carrol Street.

The community program will feature representatives from various political, religious and ethnic organizations who will discuss Dr. King's motivation to empower the people and make their voices heard. The program will conclude with a unity march that will begin and end at the church. That will be followed by a free meal which will allow participants to reflect on the day and discuss how to keep the movement going.

The celebration is being put together by the pastor and members of the Payne Chapel AME Church, community activists and clergy from the Kenton area.
