The Forest Police Department and the Village of Forest are in the process of planning the construction of a Forest Firearms range.

The range would be located on village property outside of Forest.

The intent is to provide a safe environment for local law enforcement to train, so that they better protect the village.

It is also hoped that starting this April, the Forest Police Department will be able to provide firearms training for the general public.

According to the Forest Police Department Facebook page, the classes would be at a cost which will be competitive to local costs and the proceeds would go to assist in future police endeavors, including Santa cops, Safety Services Day, and other needs.

A poll on the Facebook page shows that 84% of the residents are interested in the classes in the Forest area.
