The Ridgemont Golden Gophers varsity softball team suffered a heartbreaking 12 to 10 loss to Marion Harding Thursday afternoon.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nikki Freshcorn threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Marion Harding.
Ridgemont collected eight hits and Marion Harding had 13 in the high-scoring affair.
Marion Harding took an early lead in the first inning. A sacrifice bunt by M Wade scored one run for Marion Harding.
B Edwards got the start for Marion Harding. She lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and eight runs while striking out two.
Kylie Turner was on the mound for Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity. She went three innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits and striking out one. Freshcorn threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Ridgemont totaled eight hits. Jackie Ramsey and Shauna Richardson each managed multiple hits for Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity. Richardson and Ramsey all had two hits to lead Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity.
Marion Harding collected 13 hits on the day. M McKinnis, A Teft, Edwards, and A Kitzmiller each collected multiple hits for Marion Harding. McKinnis led Marion Harding with three hits in four at bats.
