The Ridgemont Golden Gophers Varsity softball team defeated Horizon Science Academy 13-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

Ridgemont secured the victory thanks to ten runs in the first inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Kylie Turner, Shauna Richardson, and M Buckingham, walks by Autumn Manns and Kaylie Eversole, a home run by Cassidy Knapp, an error on a ball put in play by Nikki Freshcorn, and a double by Priscilla Howland.
The Golden Gophers got on the board in the first inning. Turner singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Horizon Science Academy was a single by Aryelle in the second inning.
Freshcorn got the start for Ridgemont. She allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out three and walking zero.
Emily toed the rubber for Horizon Science Academy. She surrendered 11 runs on ten hits over two innings, striking out three. Tamyra threw two innings in relief.
Ridgemont tallied 12 hits in the game.
Knapp, Howland, and Kelsey McKinley each had multiple hits for the Golden Gophers.
McKinley, Howland, and Knapp each collected two hits for winning team.
