The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminded residents that in 2016, more than 750,000 vehicles were stolen in the U.S.

The Patrol says you should follow some tips to prevent auto theft.

Those tips include, parking in a well-lit area, not leaving keys in your car, closing and locking all windows and doors, not leaving valuables in your vehicle and protecting your car with an antitheft device.

The advice was issued as part of the patrol’s 100 Days of Summer Safety campaign.
