An exchange of gunfire led to the officer involved shooting death of a Lima man during a drug bust Thursday morning.

Allen County Sheriff Matthew B. Treglia released a statement this morning stating a search warrant was being served at a residence on 218 West Michigan Avenue by the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, Sheriff's Office SWAT Team and agents from Ohio BCI, the FBI, DEA and ATF when an adult male confronted the SWAT Team with a firearm from inside the residence. Following an exchange of gunfire, the suspect was shot and killed. His identity will be released following positive identification by the Lucas County Coroner's Office. An adult female and and minor child were safely removed from the house. A significant amount of contraband was recovered from the residence during the search.

Search warrants were also served at two other locations in Lima Thursday. According to the release drugs and other items were confiscated at 323 Ewing Avenue and 300 Harrison Street.

The investigations started after authorities received multiple citizen complaints surrounding suspected drug trafficking at the residences.
