The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima Post is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at approximately 11:40 P.M. Saturday evening on Bluelick Road, near Interstate Route 75, Bath Township, in Allen County.

A 2002 Dodge Neon, driven by Patrick E. Hull, age 23, of Lima, Ohio, was eastbound on Bluelick Road, attempted to pass an eastbound vehicle on the right, went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed over Bluelick Road, rolled and struck a utility pole. There was a passenger in the vehicle, Holly C. Mooney, age 23, of Lima. Hull was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Mooney was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Bath Township EMS. She was ultimately taken by Promedica Air Ambulance to Promedica Hospital in Toledo, where she is listed in critical condition. Seatbelts were not in use at the time of the crash and would have helped to minimize injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Bath Township Fire and EMS, as well as Army’s Towing Service of Lima.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to always buckle up, and designate a driver.
