Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock unveiled his department’s newest piece of equipment in the ongoing fight against crime Monday morning.
The chief offered his thanks on behalf of the community and to a pair of local business that helped make a new tactical response unit vehicle possible.
The fully equipped Emergency Response Team vehicle was put on display for the first time Monday at the city police department and will be put into use in the near future. Hunlock said six members of his department have been undergoing training in enhanced tactical situations since 2014.
Those efforts, the chief said, “are close to coming to fruition” as the city’s new unit becomes a reality.
