West Nile Has been Detected Near Mount Blanchard.


The Courier Newspaper has reported that a mosquito from a collection pool near Mount Blanchard has tested positive for West Nile virus.


Symptoms of the virus include fever, headache, body aches, rash, swollen lymph nodes as well as Stiff neck, sleepiness, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, and paralysis when severe.


No humans have tested positive for the virus in Ohio this year. It is recommended that you eliminate standing water, limiting outdoor activities during dusk and dawn, and using insect repellent as well as loose, light-colored clothing.
