A Marion County man made an initial court appearance Monday following a weekend standoff with authorities.

According to information from the Marion County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, deputies responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Marion-Upper Sandusky Road to investigate a report that an armed suspect, who was believed to be intoxicated, fired a gun at a female.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted deputies at the scene where they learned the suspect will inside the house and was still armed and threatening to shoot law enforcement officers.

Following several hours of negotiations, tear gas was deployed into the residence and the suspect, identified as 42 year old Matthew Anderson, was arrested and charged with having weapons while intoxicated and felonious assault.

There were no injuries.
