The Hancock County Sheriff's Office Office advised residents about a scam taking place in the area.

A person received a call telling him his son was in jail, and he needed bond money. The call came from an 866 number from a guy who said he was an attorney.

The person calling even told the man his son's name and where he was arrested. The person receiving the call then asked the caller to give him the location his son was born, and the caller then hung up.

This is a scam that is going around for money, and if you receive one of these calls, do not provide information and report the call to your local law enforcement agency.
