The Marion based group Marion Browns Backers are a group of Cleveland Browns football fans and are also animal advocates.
The group is teaming up with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County Dog Pound to help animals, while at the same time being good sports about the Browns' 0 and 16 season.
The event started January 1st, 2018 by the Marion County Dog Pound offering $16 dog adoptions for all dogs being held there. The Marion Browns Backers will in turn donate 1600 pounds of dog food to the dog pound and other dog shelters to help feed the animals throughout the year.
In addition, the group has set up a Go Fund Me account to raise money for the Sheriff's Office to purchase a new dog for the K-9 unit. The current dog Taz has cancer and is not expected to survive.
