Indian Lake High School students heard from the Washington Township Police Chief about verbal and social media threats that are aimed at schools.
The Bellefontaine Examiner reported that Chief Rick Core addressed the students in the wake of the school shooting in Florida in February.
The chief said all threats are taken seriously, adding that they don't have the luxury of thinking they are just a sick joke.
He said if students hear of a threat, their first course of action to be to report it to a parent, school administrator and/or to law enforcement.
Chief Core said statistics show that in 88 percent of all violent school attacks, at least three other students were aware it was going to happen.
