The Marion County Sheriff has joined with Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart in keeping flags at half staff in awareness of law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
Sheriff Tim Bailey made the announcement on the sheriff's office Facebook page.
The flags were lowered to show respect for the two fallen Westerville Police Officers, but will remain lowered, at least at the sheriff's offices in Marion and Hardin Counties, until the country can go a full 30 days without an officer being killed at the hands of another.
20 officers have been murdered around the country so far this year. The last was on March 6 when a police officer in Missouri was killed.
The 30 days started March 7.
