The Upper Sandusky Rams defeated Bucyrus 49-46 in a key Northern 10 girls basketball game Friday.
The Redmen (6-3 overall, 3-2 N10) led for most of the first half and held a 28-21 advantage at intermission. The Rams (8-2, 4-1) rallied in the second half and seemed to take control of the contest down the stretch but Bucyrus fought back to tie the game in the final minute. However, a Madison McLaughlin bucket with 19 seconds left put the Rams on top 48-46, and she added a foul shot with three seconds remaining to provide the final margin.
Shaina Orewiler led Bucyrus with 14 points and seven rebounds while Ashtyn Simms and Isidora Burling had 10 points apiece.
Abigail Fogle scored a game-high 23 points to pace Upper Sandusky while McLaughlin added 11 points and Megan Hensel finished with nine points and seven rebounds.
