Shots were fired near a deputy from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office early this morning.
WFIN Radio reported that the deputy went to a residence in the 4000 block of Road H to perform a welfare check when someone inside the house fired a shot.
A short time later a second shot was fired. No one was hit.
An unarmed person exited the house a little over five minutes later and was detained by deputies.
The suspect, whose identity is being withheld, said the shots were not intended to harm law enforcement, but they didn’t know who was at the door.
The person was taken for an evaluation, and the incident remains under investigation.
