House Speaker Paul Ryan is weighing in on the Congressman Jim Jordan debacle.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the speaker is added to a long list of lawmakers defending the former Ohio State Assistant Wrestling Coach and Urbana Republican Congressman. Names on that list include Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and the Freedom Caucus. Speaker Ryan also insinuated that an official review was not appropriate for the House Ethics Committee due to the fact that the committee doesn’t investigate claims from “a couple of decades ago when they weren’t in Congress.”

Ohio State has hired legal counsel to investigate the late Dr. Richard Strauss and allegations that he sexually molested or abused Ohio State Athletes. Seven former wrestlers allege that Jordan knew about the misconduct and failed to report it. Many other athletes and coaches stand beside Jordan as a man of integrity that wouldn’t have overlooked such allegations.
