William “Bill” R. Kahler 80

of Kenton

Funeral services for William “Bill” R. Kahler will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Burial will follow at Norman Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Masonic funeral rites will follow the visitation starting at 7:00 P.M.

Bill passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at The Hardin Memorial Hospital ER in Kenton. He was born on June 25, 1944, in Kenton to the late Ernest and Doris (Gerlach) Kahler. On August 25, 1974, he married Helen Schulmeyer, and she survives in Kenton. 

Also surviving are his children, Elizabeth L. Reif, Andrea K. (Russ) Russell, Amy B. Winterich, Matthew R. Kahler, sisters, Janice Donovan, Phyllis Hutsell, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers-in-law, Larry Hutsell and Dave Donovan.

Bill graduated from Hardin Northern High School in 1962. He worked for Rockwell/Meritor/Arvin Meritor for 42 years as a machinist, cutter, grinder, and die repairman. He also farmed for most of his life.

In his free time, Bill enjoyed coaching little league and officiating high school football. He also liked to hunt and was a hunter education instructor and was a member of the Rushcreek Sportsman Club. 

Bill was a member of the Rhinehart Church and Painter Creek Grange. He was also highly involved with various local services organizations including, St. George Commandery, the Kenton Council, Findlay OES, the Hardin County Shrine, Aladdin Shrine, Scottish Rite, and a past master of Latham Lodge 154. 

Memorial donations in Bill’s honor may be made to Angels for the Elderly, the Hardin County Shriner’s for the Shriner’s Children Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
