On January 3, 4, and 5 movie-goers will have the chance to see the highly acclaimed film “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” at the historic Marion Palace Theatre located at 276 West Center Street in downtown Marion.

Two-time Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor. This film is rated PG for some strong thematic material, a brief fight, and some mild language and runs 1 hour, 49 minutes.

“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” will show at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3 and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4 and Sunday, January 5. Open captions will be shown on Sunday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m. Movie admission prices are $4 for all ages and $2 for current 2018-2019 PCAA members presenting a valid membership card.
