The Alger mayor is asking voters in the village to support a plan that would replace the water board with a Village Administrator.
Village Council members voted last year to a hire a Village Administrator to improve village services. The water board however circulated a petition that will now put the change before voters in November.
In an open letter to residents, Mayor James Summa pointed out several reasons why a change is needed. He said he has seen no structure or supervision when it comes to village employees which has resulted in equipment and catch basins that have not been maintained or serviced and a water tower that has not been serviced in 10 to 15 years.
The mayor’s letter can be found on the Village of Alger Facebook page.
