Allen County Crash Claims the Life of Elida Man Tuesday

A two vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Reservoir Road in Allen County claimed the life of an Elida man.

According to a release from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 78 year old Garry Prater was a passenger in a car being driven by 78 year old Nancy Prater, also of Elida.

The car was traveling east on Reservoir Road when a westbound sport utility vehicle being operated by 21 year old Connor Brayton, of Lima, went left of center and struck it head-on.

Mr. Prater, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mrs. Prater was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Brayton was taken to LMH with minor injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to always wear a seatbelt.
