Investigation continues into a fatal one-car crash which occured in Allen County Saturday afternoon.
Troopers from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene on Fort Amanda Road around 4:15 p.m. A 2010 Pontiac G6 driven by Wapakonetan Layla Yoakam, 17, had gone off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence, pole, and tree, and overturned.
Both Yoakam and passenger Katelyn Rose, 16, also of Wapakoneta, were taken to St. Rita’s Mercy Health. Yoakam was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Rose was transported to and has been listed in critical condition at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo.
Seatbelt usage for either occupant is currently unknown, and drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have factored into the crash.
