The Allen County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple complaints from Allen County residents who are receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be a lieutenant from the Sheriff’s Office.

This caller claims to have a warrant for the person who answers the phone and then asks for private information and a large amount of money for fines in the form of prepaid credit cards or gift cards.

This is a scam.

The person is not an employee of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, and this is not the way the Allen County Sheriff’s Office handles warrants.

If you receive one of these calls, do not give out your personal information and do not give out your money.

If you have a concern regarding a warrant or other matter, call the office directly at 419-227-3535.
