BLUFFTON, Ohio—Bluffton University will host a closing reception for Melissa Vogley Woods, from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Sauder Visual Arts Center.

Her exhibit, “out of the blue,” is currently on display and will be open to the public through Feb. 19.

Vogley Woods is a Columbus, Ohio-based multidisciplinary visual artist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting and a Master of Fine Art in Printmaking.

The photogram-cyanotypes on paper displayed in “out of the blue” were made in direct sunlight with a photographic process that invites chance and unpredictable conditions. The images in the work are made by moving, shaking, flipping and arranging physical objects and cut-out shapes on paper while it exposes in the sun. This alchemical process of light and shadow forces the work to remain unseen while it is made, and each work becomes its own struggle with time and conditions.

Gallery hours in the Sauder Visual Arts Center are 9 a.m-5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
