Carey Man Killed in Wyandot County Crash

One person was killed, and another was critically injured in a two vehicle crash Monday evening in Wyandot County.

According to a release from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 67 year old Roger S. Schlack, of Carey, was driving north on US Route 23 when his pickup struck a box trailer.

The trailer had disconnected from a semi that was being operated by 29 year Salih J. Husain, of Hilliard and it came to rest across the roadway.

Schlack was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the pickup, 60 year old Lana Schlack, was flown to Cleveland Metro Health Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Upper Sandusky Fire and EMS, Wyandot COunty Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
