Local law enforcement agencies continue to receive reports of people, especially the elderly, being scammed out of their hard earned money.
Residents are reminded that con artists force you to make decisions fast and may threaten you.
They sometimes pretend to be the government and will try to get you to provide them personal information like your Social Security number or account numbers.
Con artists may also ask you to purchase a gift card, and then read the number on the card to them.
Beware of free travel offers.
If you’re uncertain, you ask a friend or family member about it before giving out your card number or money.
