(UPDATED FOR INFO ON COLLECTION DAYS) City Announces Details on New Kenton Trash Collection System

Trash collection day for each ward will remain the same.

Recycling will vary every other week. That will depend on if you are on the A week or B week schedule.

Residents will be able to see that on a map which is the city is putting out.

 

The City of Kenton is announcing the new trash collection system starting July 6, 2020.

The contractor, Republic Services, will remain the same.

If you are currently a “PAYT” (pay as you throw) customer, you will be receiving the new bins.

.Delivery of the new bins will be beginning June 20, 2020 However, you cannot use them until the week of July 6.

.You will be receiving two (2) totes: (1) 96 gallon tote for trash and (1) 64 gallon tote for recycling

.You may keep the current red recycling tote or place curbside starting July 6th for collection

Billing:

Please keep in mind that under this new service there will be some changes in billing. You will be receiving your trash bill as part of your City of Kenton MONTLY Water Bill.

.If you are renter, we suggest that you contact your landlord for verification of payment responsibilities. If you are the landlord and receiving this letter, please inform your tenant of this new change.

.To keep water/sewer billing cycles the same for trash, your July charge for trash will be on the water/sewer bill that is due in September.

Senior Discount:

Senior discount rates will start in August so everyone will be billed the regular amount on their water bill for the month of July.

Starting July 1, 2020 if you qualify for the senior citizen service, you will need to apply at the Kenton Water Department (555 West Franklin St.) You will be required to have proof of:

.Age (driver’s license or birth certificate)

.Address (driver’s license or property information or utility contract with City)

To get this discount you must have be age 65 or older, your primary residence is the one being serviced and no more than one person (spouse, child, etc.) under the age of 65 can live with you in the residence.

You will originally be provided with a 96 gallon tote for trash. After you apply for the senior discount, the original 96 gallon bin will be exchanged for a 64 gallon senior bin.
