The Hardin County Commissioners denied a request from a gubernatorial candidate to hold an event on the steps of the courthouse in downtown Kenton.

The request was made by Jamie Miller for candidate Joe Blystone to hold a freedom rally on July 3.

At a meeting held last week, Commissioners Roger Crowe and Fred Rush voted in favor of denying the request.

They cited a resolution stating no political events are to be held on courthouse property.

Commissioner Tim Striker was absent from the meeting.
