Cross Issues Statement on Removal of Householder as Speaker of the House

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jon Cross (R-Kenton) announced the removal of Rep. Larry Householder (R-Glenford) as Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives.

Cross voted for Rep. Bob Cupp (R-Lima) to lead the 133rd General Assembly of the Ohio House of Representatives for the remainder of the year.

 

Cross issued the following statement:

“Today, the Republican Caucus of the Ohio House stands united, removing Rep. Larry Householder from his leadership position. I’m pleased to have voted to support Rep. Bob Cupp to become the next Speaker of the Ohio House. Speaker Cupp will lead with great integrity, help us restore Ohioans trust and faith of the people’s House, and continue to focus on legislative matters in the last quarter of the 133rd General Assembly. Today marks the day that we can begin to rebuild strong, honest, and fair leadership and move forward to make Ohio stronger, safer, and open for business.”

Governor Mike DeWine issued the following statement upon the election of Representative Bob Cupp (R-Lima) as Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives:

“I congratulate Bob Cupp upon his election as the new Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives. Speaker Cupp is a man of integrity who will serve Ohio well. I look forward to working with Speaker Cupp and Senate President Obhof in the days ahead.”
