The National School Lunch Program allows schools to continue the free or reduced status of students from the prior school year for the first 30 days of school.
This gives families time to complete a new application.
If the school does not have a new meal application from the family, the lunch status will go to full pay on the 31st day of school for those students.
This change in status and new meal charge will happen next week unless a new application is received and approved.
Kenton Schools Cafeteria Supervisor Regina Comstock said that letters are going out in the mail to the families this will affect.
If you get a letter and meal application in the mail, submit it as soon as possible to prevent the loss of meal benefits for this school year.
