Ohio Substitute Senate Bill 311 has been vetoed by Governor Mike DeWine.

Substitute Senate Bill 311 would have limited the scope of orders the state’s Director of Health could issue.

In his veto message, Governor DeWine cited the concerns of several medical professionals toward narrowing the Director of Health’s reach during a pandemic, as well as attributing the success of slowing the spread of such diseases as anthrax and coronavirus to such measures as quarantines and travel bans.

More information on the veto and the medical professionals’ testimony against the bill may be found by calling (614) 644-0957.
