An explosion and fire occurred at Sekisui Plastics on U.S. 68 south of Kenton early this morning.
According to information from the Kenton Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched around 5:45.
The subsequent fire was contained to three large cargo trailers near a loading dock at the plant after the sprinkler system was activated.
The explosion blew a large hole on the south side of the building.
Heavy damage occurred in the area of the explosion. Moderate smoke and water damage occurred throughout the rest of the building.
There were no injuries.
The Hardin County Fire Task Force continues to investigate to determine the cause.
In a related story, a Kenton fire truck collided with a cruiser belonging to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office on the way to the fire.
Sheriff Keith Everhart said the cruiser was totaled, and moderate damage occurred to the fire truck.
There were no injuries.
