Fatal Shooting Under Investigation in Lima

A fatal shooting in Lima is under investigation.

According to a release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 8:30 Monday evening to 2036 Edgewood Drive after a 9-1-1 call regarding a female suffering a single gunshot wound to the upper chest.

The caller advised that the victim allegedly shot herself.

Upon arrival, deputies found 23 year old Ja-Kia Battle lying on the floor, and they rendered first aid until EMS arrived.

She was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center where she died early this morning.

The incident is being investigated by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, and anybody with any information is asked to contact Lieutenant Brett Rider at 419-227-3535.
