This May, the American Red Cross is calling for donors to give blood to help meet the needs of patients in emergency situations.

According to the National Trauma Institute, trauma accounts for approximately 41 million emergency department visits and 2 million hospital admissions each year.

A total of five blood drives are planned in Hardin County during the month of May.

Four are in Kenton. They are on May 3 from 1 until 6 at the United Way office. There are two on May 21, at the First Baptist Church and Kenton Moose Lodge, both from noon until 6, and then May 25 from 11 until 4 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

A blood drive will also be held in Ada on May 24 from 11:30 until 5:30 at Ada Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
